About The Department

The Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, which is one of the 7 departments affiliated to Istanbul Esenyurt University Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, started its education life in the 2022 - 2023 academic year. The curriculum of the program has been prepared in accordance with ECTS (European Credit Transfer System).

Interior Architecture and Environmental Design is a professional field that designs creative and original spaces with high quality of life in accordance with comfort and aesthetic conditions by evaluating the physical, psychological, ergonomic and sociological characteristics, economic status and cultural values of the user group it addresses.

It is aimed to educate the students of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design of our university to be able to evaluate technology and its products very well, to read the requirements of the age, to identify potential problems in design and planning issues depending on different spatial constructions, to produce projects by developing innovative and original solution searches, and to be equipped to carry out close cooperation with other professional branches.

The educational approach of the program has a multifaceted structure to provide knowledge and competence to the students of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. The curriculum of the department consists of theoretical courses such as design, architecture and art history, building knowledge and production systems, information technologies, as well as workshops and project studies that provide professional knowledge and practice. In addition, national and international student exchange programs, workshops, symposiums and technical trips pave the way for Interior Architecture and Environmental Design students to grow as self-confident individuals in the national and international arena.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

   In order to graduate from this program, students must successfully complete all the courses in the curriculum (each student must complete 240 ECTS course load), applications, internships and similar studies with a weighted grade point average of at least (2.00).

PROFESSIONAL PROFILE OF GRADUATES

Students who successfully graduate from the department receive a bachelor's degree and have the title of Interior Architect. They can take part in the space arrangements of residences, buildings with completed shell structure, production and industrial buildings, business centers. They can take part in the spatial arrangements of personalized designs. They can work nationally and internationally in various public and private organizations in the departments related to project development, implementation and coordination related to the design discipline. They can work independently by opening their own offices. They can work as a designer in furniture design companies where they have had many opportunities to practice design during their education. They can work as academicians in their fields of specialization.

TRANSITION TO HIGHER DEGREE PROGRAMS

   Those who successfully complete the undergraduate program of this department can apply for a master's and/or doctorate in the same department, as well as graduate programs in some other fields. Candidates who have completed their undergraduate education can study in graduate programs provided that they get a valid grade from the ALES exam, have sufficient knowledge of English language and pass the science exam.
